Detroit Mercy should explore Big East membership

Detroit Mercy has an opportunity to look into making a bold move for the future of its men's basketball program.
The basketball-centric schools of the Big East Conference, including Villanova and St. John's, have talked about splitting from the league after football-driven arrivals and departures of other schools.
The Titans, who are in the Horizon League, should at least look at the possibility of joining forces with the likes of DePaul and Marquette to form a basketball-strong league.
There was a buzz 30 years ago about U-D hooking up with city schools like DePaul, Marquette and St. Joseph's.
What goes around comes around.
Opportunity has come to Detroit.
