Kevin Youkilis could probably get elected mayor of Chicago right now.
At least, on the South Side of the Windy City.

Youkilis rounds bases after home run Thursday.

The former Boston Red Sox third baseman cracked a solo home run Thursday to lift the White Sox to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers and a three-game sweep of the back-to-back American League champions.
On Wednesday, Youkilis had the winning hit in the bottom of the 10th inning as Chicago beat the Rangers 5-4.
In his first 10 games with the White Sox, Youkilis hit .308 with 10 RBI.
He appears to have solved what had been a glaring problem at third base for the White Sox.
His winning hits the last two days helped Chicago stay 4 1/2 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central Division.

The Detroit Tigers have won nine of their last 13 games, and are starting to look like the American League Central Division contender a lot of folks expected.

Can the Tigers keep their stride on the road?
Detroit, 17-17 in games away from Comerica Park this season, starts at 10-game road trip tonight when the Tigers open a three-game interleague series at the Pittsburgh Pirates.
It'll be the second 10-game trip in six weeks for the Tigers. In late May, they went 4-6 on a three-city trip, to Cleveland (lost three), Minnesota (won three) and Boston (went 1-3).
After playing Pittsburgh, the Tigers return to American League rivals as they take on defending A.L. champion Texas and then Tampa Bay.
The Tigers have only seven home games between now and July 15, a stretch that includes the All-Star break.

The Chicago White Sox show signs of being the team that will give the Detroit Tigers the fiercest competition in the race for the American League Central Division championship.
Buoyed by Philip Humber's perfect game against Seattle on April 21 (picture above), the White Sox are 9-6, one-half game behind the Tigers, with a staff earned run average of 3.16, the third-lowest ERA in the AL.
Detroit's team ERA of 3.51 is fourth-best in the league.
Minnesota, Kansas City and Cleveland, who make up the rest of the AL Central, are in the bottom five for team ERA in the AL.
Another encouraging sign for Chicago: Adam Dunn. The designated hitter who slumped in 2011 has 13 runs batted in. Dunn had 42 RBI last season.
